Following the footsteps of Albert Einstein
Albert Einstein is probably the most famous alumnus of ETH Zurich. Between 1896 and 1900 he studied at the Polytechnikum, as ETH Zurich was then called, and graduated with a diploma as a specialist teacher in mathematics and natural sciences. As a professor of physics he returned and founded the basis for his theory of relativity here between 1912 and 1940. Letters and original documents from this period lie dormant in the ETH Zurich university archives. These can be viewed several times a year as part of a public tour.
In addition, there is a lot to discover on site all year round:
The app tour ?Albert Einstein and ETH? invites you to follow in the footsteps of the former ETH professor Albert Einstein through the main building of ETH Zurich in the center of Zurich. Discover his various stations during his life and peek into his locker located on F-floor.
To mark the 100th anniversary of his Nobel Prize in Physics in 2021, a digital avatar of the young Albert has been developed to provide information about his years in Zurich. Come by for a chat with him!
