Nobel laureates
Over twenty Nobel laureates have studied, taught or conducted research at ETH, underlining the university's excellent reputation.
The best-known Nobel Prize laureate is probably Albert Einstein, who studied at ETH from 1896 to 1900. He later returned to ETH as a professor of Theoretical Physics from 1912 to 1914. In 1921, he was awarded the Nobel Prize.

ETH collaborates with the private sector in many areas and enjoys an excellent reputation in the business world, not least thanks to its talented alumni. The exchange with industry, for instance through the professorships and collaborations, allows for practice-oriented teaching.
